Editorial policy

Visa rules affect whether people board flights. This is how we source and check what we publish.

Sourcing

Fees, eligibility rules and procedural detail come from primary government sources: the official ETA portal at eta.gov.lk, its published fee schedule, and the Department of Immigration & Emigration.

We do not source visa rules from other guide sites, agent sites, or forums. Where a claim is a commonly cited benchmark rather than a published rule — the USD 50 per day funds guideline, for instance — we say so.

Review cycle

Every visa page carries a "last reviewed" date. Pages are re-checked against the official sources on a rolling basis, and immediately when a policy change is announced.

The May 2026 free-ETA scheme is a good example: it changed the fee position for 40 nationalities, and every affected page was updated rather than left with a stale figure.

Commercial influence

No one can pay to change what our visa guidance says. We do not accept sponsored placements within visa content, and we do not link to agent services that charge a markup on the free government process.

Links to the official portal are editorial, unpaid, and marked nofollow.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we correct the page and update its review date. Reports of errors are welcome via the contact page.

What we do not do

We do not give immigration advice for individual circumstances, and nothing on this site is legal advice. For a decision that depends on your specific history, contact the Department of Immigration & Emigration or a qualified immigration lawyer.
